Ir Dr Pappin is mainly involved with analysis and design of geotechnical problems with particular emphasis on basements, deep excavations and foundations, movement prediction and developing numerical analytical techniques. He is responsible for seismic hazard assessment and geotechnical earthquake engineering in Arup worldwide and is involved in many earthquake related design problems. Other activities include risk assessments, slope stabilisation measures, offshore structure foundation design and design involving vibrations and cyclic or dynamic loading.
