Profile

Prof. Mingxin Huang is the Chair Professor of Materials Technology and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at HKU. He is also the director of the Centre for Structural Materials at HKU. Prof. Huang has made exceptional contributions to academic research, technology transfer, and engineering applications in materials science. His landmark Super Steel research, published twice in Science and integrated into China’s national high school chemistry curriculum, reaching over 15 million students every year, highlights profound societal impact. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Changjiang Scholar Chair Professor. He has received prestigious honors including the Xplorer Prize, Croucher Senior Research Fellowship, and Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology Award. Prof. Huang has published over 190 SCI journal papers on international journals including Science, Science Advances, Materials Today, Acta Materialia, Scripta Materialia, JMPS and IJP etc, and has ranked among the global top 1% in Materials Science since 2021.
