Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Celebrates 30th Anniversary with New Identifier Connecting the Mainland and the World
The Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE), formerly known as the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, is a leadership organization for the engineering community in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). It was established in 1994 by distinguished industry leaders, including Sir Sze-yuen CHUNG and Sir Charles Kuen KAO. The members are elected from among recognized leaders who have made significant contributions to the engineering field and related applications in Hong Kong, aiming to promote the advancement of engineering for the benefit of the community. In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the HKAE has adopted a new identifier to reaffirm its commitment to advancing engineering science and technology in Hong Kong. ......

HKAES holds the 2nd Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology Award
With the sponsorship of the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR, HKAES has launched the prestigious Hong Kong Engineering Science and Technology (HKEST) Award since 2022. The 2nd HKEST Awards (2023) Ceremony cum Distinguished Lectures was held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 23 August. Four local experts from materials science, renewable energy engineering, and color and imaging science won the award. On the day, around 200 engineers, scholars, industry experts and leaders gathered physically and virtually to celebrate the event.

Hong Kong Winners of the 15th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize
Professor C.C. Chan greeted the three winners of the 15th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), namely CHAN Ka Leung 陳家亮(CUHK), HU Jinlian 胡金蓮 (CityU HK), and SHUM Ho Cheung 岑浩璋 (HKU) after the presentation ceremony in Beijing on 25 June 2024.
Three nominees nominated by HKAES include HU Julian 胡金蓮 (CityU HK), SHUM Ho Cheung 岑浩璋 (HKU), and LEE Shi-wei 李世瑋 (HKUST).
HKAES 2023-24 Pitch Competition on Grand Challenge Engineering Topics for University Students
HKAES 2023-24 Pitch Competition on Grand Challenge Engineering Topics for University Students was held successfully on 13 April 2024. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, with their project “EcoFlight: Enhancing Aircraft Ground Operations for Reduced Carbon Emissions” won the competition.
