Ir Chow has extensive experience in civil engineering and new town development. As a promoter of applying theory to practice, he made significant contributions to the construction of Hong Kong’s infrastructure systems. His long engineering career in the Hong Kong Government encompassed the management of many major infrastructure and urban development projects, including Tai Lam Chung dams construction, Chek Lap Kok Airport feasibility study, double deck rail/road Tsing Ma Bridge design, urban reclamations, Shatin New Town (700,000 population) planning and implementation. His book “My Life as an Engineer – 50 Years of Infrastructure Developments in Hong Kong” was published by Hong Kong University Press in 2003.
