Ir Prof Yuen is a Chair Professor, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong and a Registered Professional Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) [1], a Member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (USA) [2] and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HK) [3]. He is currently a Member of Committee on Self-financing Post-secondary Education (CSPE) [4] by Education Bureau, HKSAR Government and the Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) [5]. Prof Yuen has been listed among the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world (career-long), according to Stanford University consecutively in 2022, 2023 and 2024. His research expertise includes fire safety and engineering, pyrolysis and combustion, applications of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), flame-retardant materials, neural network modelling applications in fire engineering, building energy conservation, lighting and ventilation, HVAC systems and indoor air quality. He was awarded the CityUHK President’s Award in 2016.
