Ir Dr Chan is a Senior Consultant of the global Arup Group, a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering practice. Previously, he was Chairman of Arup’s Trustees Board, Deputy Chairman of Arup Group (2007-2014), and before then, Chairman of Arup’s East Asia Region and the Hong Kong office (1996-2007). Dr Chan has practised civil engineering for over 45 years, specialising in the field of geotechnics, and has particular experience in deep excavations and foundation systems relating to urban infrastructure and complex building development. His recent interests include research and engineering application of sustainability concepts in urban development.
