Profile

Ir Professor Ko has been engaged in top-level research on structural dynamics, vibration monitoring and control, system identification and damage detection in the last 3 decades. He has successfully built up a Structural Health Monitoring research team in PolyU which is now well recognized internationally. Since early 90’s, the team has been involved in the R&D work of the structural health monitoring systems for long span bridges including the Tsing Ma Bridge and the Su Tong Bridge. Recently, they were commissioned the consultancy work of the structural health monitoring system for the Guangzhou New TV Tower. They have developed a Mega-structure Diagnostic and Prognostic System which is considered to be very powerful for life-cycle Structural Health Monitoring.
