Profile

Prof. Fu Zhang is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Hong Kong and leads the Mechatronics and Robotic Systems (MaRS) Laboratory. His research focuses on spatial intelligence and autonomous aerial robotics, covering perception, control, and autonomous navigation. Prof. Zhang has published over 120 papers in leading venues, including Science Robotics, Nature Communications, TPAMI, T-RO, and IJRR. He has also received prestigious honours, including HKU’s Outstanding Young Researcher Award, the 2025 IEEE Transactions on Robotics Best Paper Award, and recognition by Clarivate as one of the world’s top 1% scientists.
