A specialist in heat transfer, Professor Timothy W. Tong has spent more than two decades as an influential researcher, scholar and teacher in this field of mechanical engineering and published more than 80 articles and 7 edited books. While serving as Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the George Washington University, Professor Tong established the Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer and Commercialization to foster technological innovation and practical relevance of research efforts. Professor Tong was appointed President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic, the largest UGC-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong, on 1 January 2009 leading the University towards its next level of excellence.
